Objects that have sustained us during lockdown:

Roohi: pot. I’ve been cooking rice, curry, pakoras, samosas, even roast chicken in this pot. 

Zak: And I’ve been enjoying it. 

Because of Covid-19 we weren’t able to mark Ramadan in the same way. We had to pray at home instead of going to the mosque and missed meeting up with others to celebrate Eid. We’re able to talk to family both in the UK and in Pakistan, on the phone and on video calls. We pray to God that everyone – our family, our friends and all the neighbours in the street – are safe. Everyone.
