11 Isabella Road: Ila and Maya

Objects that have sustained us during lockdown:

Ila - bottle of chimichurri. I was using this Argentinian condiment when I was locked down for two months with my boyfriend in Buenos Aires. We spent our days cooking and eating.

Maya - SLR film camera. I’ve been learning how to use this manual camera through online videos. It’s much more fun than press and shoot but, because of lockdown, I can’t get the films developed.

We’ve never been so much at one with the house as we are now. Maya had to come back from studying English and Film in Brighton. She’s found it a struggle studying from home – she’s missed the motivation of others in her student household. Ila was in Argentina when the pandemic broke. She and her boyfriend spent two months in a beautiful house, with just what they had in their rucksacks. She felt much less safe when she got back to the UK where the rules were laxer, but it was exciting getting back. Maya was glad to have her sister back. She was getting bored even though she’s done lots of cycling along the canal, and in the forest, and walking with her mother.
